General Questions
Q.What is Ace Lock?
Ace Lock is a parental control and study focus app designed specifically for exam students. It provides hardcore app blocking during study sessions, combined with real-time parental oversight. Think of it as an "Unbreakable Study Room".
Q.Who is this app for?
• Students preparing for exams who need unbreakable focus • Parents/Guardians who want to monitor and support their child's study habits • Self-disciplined individuals who want to block distractions without parental oversight
Q.Is Ace Lock available in English?
Yes! The app is fully bilingual with complete Japanese and English translations. You can switch languages anytime in Settings.
Study Sessions
Q.How do study sessions work?
When you start a study session, the app blocks ALL apps on your device (except whitelisted ones). A countdown timer shows your remaining time. You cannot exit or cancel during an active session - this is intentional to ensure focused study time.
Q.What study durations are available?
• Free Plan: 30, 60, 90, or 120 minutes • Pro Plan: Custom durations from 15 to 180 minutes
Q.Can I end a study session early?
Not without friction! This is a key feature of Ace Lock: • Managed Mode: Request an unlock from your parent/guardian • Solo Mode: Wait 60 seconds AND type "I give up" to unlock • Parents: Can remotely end a child's session from their dashboard
Linking & Family Setup
Q.How do I link my child's device?
1. On the parent device, go to Settings → view your Pairing Code 2. On the child device, enter this 6-character code during onboarding 3. Devices are now linked with real-time synchronization
Q.Can my child use the app without linking to a parent?
Yes! Solo Mode allows students to use all blocking features independently. They can link to a guardian later from Settings if desired.
Q.How many children can I manage?
• Free Plan: 1 student • Pro Plan: Unlimited students
Unlock Requests
Q.How does the unlock request system work?
1. Child taps "Emergency Unlock Request" 2. Selects a reason (Homework, Family Contact, Emergency, Other) 3. Parent receives a push notification 4. Parent can Approve or Deny the request 5. If approved, the child's device is unlocked
Technical & Privacy
Q.Which platforms are supported?
Ace Lock works on both iOS and Android devices. The app uses native APIs (Screen Time on iOS, Accessibility Service on Android) for robust blocking.
Q.What permissions does the app require?
• Notifications: For unlock request alerts and session reminders • Accessibility Service (Android): To detect and block apps • Screen Time / Family Controls (iOS): To manage app restrictions
Q.Is my data secure?
Yes. All data is stored securely in Supabase with encryption at rest. We don't sell your data or share it with third parties.
Q.Can my child bypass the app blocking?
The app uses native system-level blocking that is extremely difficult to bypass. This is the "hardcore" promise of Ace Lock - even tech-savvy students will struggle to work around it.
Billing & Subscription
Q.Is there a free trial for Pro features?
Currently, we don't offer a free trial, but you can use the Free plan indefinitely with basic features.
Q.How do I upgrade to Pro?
Go to Settings → Upgrade to Pro in the parent app to view subscription options.
Q.Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes, you can cancel anytime through your device's subscription management. You'll retain Pro features until the end of your billing period.
